Tecul Vanilla in all it's glory
This is one of those rare moment when you are invited to go behind the scenes of a real operation. Tecul vanilla invited me(and family in tow) out to their plantation to see what REAL vanilla is like.
I can only tell you that it was truly an eye opening experience. I learned things about Vanilla that I never knew. For example, Real Vanilla is actually nearly clear. Coloring is added to make it more visually appealing. Also, Real vanilla extract it actually not sweet at all but extremely potent and borderline spicy. Just one drop on my tongue made it feel like like it was sizzling a little bit.
Horchata Concentrate
Summertime is here and no drink is more often consumed on hot summer days than Horchata(Rice Drink).
This so traditional and so ingrained into the Mexican psyche in ways I cannot even explain. I've had it served at funerals/wakes, with tacos, mole or pozole. It really doesn't matter what the fare is, or the occasion; Horchata is another one of those truly Mexican
icons that no-one can deny.
Suavicremas and Cremax
Yeah I know what your thinking, Cremax, another bodybuilding supplement, but no. Here is an example of a modern Mexican staple.
TURIN Dark Chocolate (Amargo) 150GR
TURIN Dark Chocolate (Amargo) 150GR is a real treat. There are so many recipes this chocolate is used in, including mole. But, My favorite is chocolate dipped strawberries.
San Marcos Jalapeño Slivers 380g
San Marcos Jalapeño Slivers 380g (San Marcos Rajas verdes de Chiles Jalapeño en Escabeche 380g) is what I would call "table chiles". They are Jalapeño Slivers in brine with carrots and onions.
This is what you would typically find placed in the center of any table at any Mexican restaurant. You just add these on to whatever dish you ordered.
I particularly like this brand because I find them alot crispier than most other brands.
